Questions

The things people usually ask.

Can I book Ray Gibson to play a show in Haarlem or Amsterdam?

Yes. Ray is based in the Leidsebuurt in Haarlem and plays across Noord-Holland, the Netherlands, Europe and the UK. Formats run from solo guitar and voice, through duo with cello or piano, up to a full electric band. Bookings for 2026 and 2027 are open.

What is the live painting and auction show?

A single event where Ray performs live while making a physical painting on canvas in front of the audience, ending in a live auction of the finished work. It has run at Prague Castle and at Kunstlijn Haarlem, and suits galleries, festivals and corporate evenings.

Can I buy an original Ray Gibson painting?

Originals are available by enquiry rather than listed with prices. Most are chalk pastel, with some oil and mixed media, sized from 30 x 30 cm up to 120 x 70 cm. Send a message naming the work and you will get a reply with availability and price.

Where can I see Ray Gibson's paintings in person?

Studio visits in Haarlem are by appointment. Work has been exhibited at Prague Castle and at Kunstlijn Haarlem, the Dutch contemporary art manifestation.

What kind of music does Ray Gibson make?

Cinematic alt-pop and modern psychedelia, built on a guitar style of open strings and minimalist structures developed in response to physical challenges with his hands. Two albums with The Roads and two solo records, including Fishing Muddy Puddles and the forthcoming The Future Began A Moment Ago.

Do the paintings and the songs connect?

What medium does Ray Gibson work in?

Mostly chalk pastel, applied with the fingers and fixed in layers. Some oil, and occasional mixed media, including one work made from used table tennis bats.
